After discovering these issues it took several calls to various departments to get them fixed and when I called the management to alert them to all our issues, no one called back, twice. The room itself also had several issues from the fireplace and coffee machine being broken to the pull out coach being at a such an incline that my son couldn’t sleep on it. In most of the room all you could see was snow (no sky) which was strangely disorienting and again the room was not clean- it was dusty and needed a deep cleaning. I was moved easily, but the new room was very strange as it was nearly subterranean. On the back of several of the chairs at the table was smeared, dried cream cheese or butter- at least that’s what I hoped it was. When I got to the room we were directly above the front of the hotel and they were moving snow with construction equipment which was crazy loud (and I’m from NYC). The problem is that the property does NOT feature 5 star service and the sub optimal staffing is effecting near every area of the resort, making the hefty price tag not worth it (at all)! When I arrived I was able to check into our 3K a night 1 bedroom suite (for my family of 4) before noon which was a pleasant surprise. The hotel is expansive and features nearly every amenity you could want at a 5 star ski resort. The Montage at Deer Valley is undeniably a beautiful property. Coed pool and hot tub was excellent and huge. We really enjoyed working out each day and I have to say this was the saving grace of the entire stay. The gym at the hotel is huge and amazing. The massage at the spa was not great so I would skip that. The main problem with this hotel is lack of training. Not sure why no one at the hotel could explain that a shuttle arrives twice an hour at the location. I finally gave up and walked to area in hope of a Uber only to find a montage shuttle waiting. When I called I was transferred at least 4 different times and no one could explain whether a shuttle could pick up at our location. We were given a number to dial valet for pickup when we were done skiing by the valet. Compass sports was amazing with arranging our ski rentals. They could have just referred us to the tv in the room for specific offerings but they didn’t and I discovered that on day 2. We were refereed to the concierge by the front desk when we asked for a map. Concierge was not able to really give us a layout of the hotel or a map. Check in was very bumpy with the front desk not able to answer very basic questions. Views of the snow covered mountain peaks were unreal. However, I must say the room was beautiful, cozy, very comfortable seating area in front of a fireplace (note not all upscale hotels in deer valley have a working fireplace). ![]() It’s a bit strange the obstacle course one must endure to get to their room. We had to walk, walk, and walk some more up stairs to the sixth floor, through the vista lounge, take an elevator down to the fifth floor to get to our room. It lacks the feeling of other five star hotels in the area and feels a bit more like a conference hotel. ![]() The hotel has a beautiful location in deer valley. All in all, we will be back!! More Show less There was no wait to get onto the lifts, and the conditions couldn’t have been better. ![]() The mountain itself is staffed with super friendly people. I think one of their favorite activities was acquiring their merit badges. The buffet and a la carte options never failed to please, and the staff went out of their way to accommodate us on special requests (our son had the tastiest vanilla milkshake he has ever had). The food was amazing, particularly at Apex. They enjoyed tubing, daily s’mores with several different flavored marshmallows, bowling and arcade at Daly’s, billiards, and of course, interacting with Monty and Murphy, the hotel dogs. Our kids (7 and 10) had the “best” vacation ever not only because of the skiing., but also because of the multitude of activities they enjoyed. The staff is super friendly and attentive, making everyone feel welcomed. ![]() The resort is beautifully set, with ski in and out access to the mountain. This was our first ski vacation, and wow, did it set the bar high.
